Thanks to Pizza Hut, Pappas Kids had the privilege of handing out nearly two thousand books in rural low income communities in October!
Nearly 80% of homeless and underprivileged youth will never own a brand new book. I find that reading has always been an escape, a safe place we could go to and unwind and the one thing that has always helped expand our minds. Promoting literacy by giving these children a choice and ownership in a book encourages them to read, gives them pride of ownership and a safe place to escape on those days when life is too much.
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” – George R.R. Martin
